Notebook: Sounds from the 2005 US Grand Prix
I’ve just released two new sound galleries with sounds recorded during practice sessions for the 2005 US Grand Prix. But no, they’re not sounds from “race day”.
The sound galleries can be found here:
A couple of quick notes:
- Notice in the recordings done in Turns One and Eight, how quickly the cars decelerate. In both turns I make a recording at the 150m marker, and you can hear the cars at full throttle at that point. Only after that do they start braking. The next recordings are done closer to or precisely at the turn, and you can really hear the difference.
- In Turns Nine and Ten the cars can barely be heard until they accelerate toward Turn Eleven.
- One of my favorite things to do at the USGP is to sit with the Columbian fans in the Paddock Penthouse across from the garage area. They’re nuts, but they’re also a lot of fun! Sure, I feel WAY out of place, but I think everyone should do it if they attend any part of the USGP weekend.
Enjoy the sounds, I hope to have more available soon.
