Notebook: TV Listings for Race Fans

If you’re like me, you spend too much of your limited TV-watching time surfing the channels, looking for something good (or at least not obnoxious) to watch. Speed Channel is one of my “defaults” of course, but my whole system is backwards. I mean, if I was really serious about watching TV shows worth watching, then I would figure out what time the good shows were on, and then schedule the rest of my time so that I could be there to watch them (or perhaps record them). That sounds good, but let’s not forget… it’s just TV.

Anyway, if you like to be organized and on top of things and don’t want to miss the good stuff on TV, there are two web sites you might enjoy:

TVRacer.com

RaceFanTV.com

Both provide racing-related TV listings, links, and a variety of other information. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, so take a look at both and see what you like and don’t like.

SOAPBOX_ON… Y’know, if broadcasters were smart enough to publish categorized, detailed schedules in an open, standardized format as XML or something similar, just think about how (relatively) easy it would be for almost anyone to publish their schedules on any web site. It would essentially be free advertising for them. So why don’t they do that? Or maybe they do, and I just don’t know it… anyone else know anything about this? …SOAPBOX_OFF
