Notebook: Hoosier Artist, Ex-Racer Has Online Racing Gallery

Indiana-based motorsports artist Tom Butters is now represented by the well-known motorsports gallery, Freck’s Auto Art.

Butters is a former SCCA racer and adman who was ORP public relations director before he went to Madison Avenue. There he worked on ad campaigns for Fiat-Lancia-Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lotus, Ford, Pirelli and other motorsports clients.

He was more recently involved in promoting vintage races at ORP and assisting in motorsports economic development initiatives for Indianapolis and Governor Mitch Daniels.

Today Butters paints from his creekside studio near Richmond, Indiana. His work can be seen in galleries including The Art Bank and Easley Winery, both in Downtown Indianapolis; The Blue Heron in Liberty, Indiana; and at his own website, www.tombuttersart.com.

He was recently honored by the Richmond Art Museum by being named as “Best of Show” for the museum’s 109th annual juried exhibition.
