Notebook: Done Deal! Open Wheel Racing Unified at Last!

It’s hard to believe, but after 12 racing seasons, several failed unification attempts, and an agonizing final few days, the principals of the Indy Racing League and the Champ Car World Series were finally able to “git r’ done”. American open wheel racing will be operated as a unified series for 2008 and beyond known as… the IndyCar Series! Though the details are still being finalized, there is no question that this is an historic moment in racing history. Congratulations to all who have worked so hard to make this happen. As fans our job will be to leave some of the past behind, and work hard to support the series and help it grow. Let’s go racing! Woo hoo! ![]()
