Indianapolis 500: 2004 Indy Winner Rahal Letterman Racing Files Entries for Sharp, Simmons

Rahal Letterman Racing filed two entries March 27 for the 91st Indianapolis 500, naming veterans Scott Sharp and Jeff Simmons as its drivers.
The 91st Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Entries must be postmarked by midnight Wednesday, April 4.
Sharp, from Norwalk, Conn., will drive the No. 8 Patron Sharp Rahal Letterman Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, with a backup entered. Ricardo Nault is the chief mechanic.
2001 Indianapolis 500 pole winner Sharp will attempt to make his 13th career start in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” but his first with 2004 Indy winners Rahal Letterman Racing. His best finish is seventh in 2005.
Simmons, from Hartford, Conn., will drive the No. 17 Rahal Letterman Racing Team Ethanol Dallara/Honda/Firestone, with a backup entered. Ed Daood is the chief mechanic.
Simmons will attempt to make his third Indy start. He started a career-best 26th in 2006 and finished a career-best 16th as a rookie in 2004.
Steve Dickson is the team manager for both entries for Rahal Letterman Racing, co-owned by 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal and late-night television icon Dave Letterman.
