Notebook: Bronze Badges Have Arrived!
Like the first sighting of a robin to let you know that spring is on its way, Indianapolis 500 Bronze Badges are arriving in mailboxes everywhere. It won’t be long now!
In case you’re not already aware, the Indianapolis 500 Bronze Badge credential is nothing less than one of the greatest deals in racing (right up there with a HARF - Hoosier Auto Racing Fans - membership). The Bronze Badge is a collectible metal pin that entitles the bearer to gate and garage access every day the track is open, with the exception of race day. It also allows you to exit and re-enter the track at any time, which is not possible with a regular daily ticket. After the race, it becomes a valuable collectible and keepsake.
The design changes every year, and this year’s badge is oval-shaped, featuring a driver drinking the traditional bottle of milk and the words “accelerate your senses”. The blank spot is engraved with a unique identification number on each badge, but I’ve digitally removed mine in this photo because well, I’m just paranoid for some reason.
The Indianapolis 500 Bronze Badge is available through the Speedway’s Credentials Office for $100. More information is available by calling 317-492-6500.
