“I’ve kind of been hounding him (about a ride) for quite a while,” said Foyt of George. “At this point, I don’t even know who the sponsor is or what the car number is.”
Um, AJ… there may not *be* a sponsor. But a number is a pretty safe bet.
I think this is great news. Vision really seemed to come on strong at the end of last season, and I think having AJ IV back in the league is a good thing. While it would be too much to hope for the Foyt-Andretti battles of yesteryear, there’s no getting around the fact that those names are important to the history of American open wheel racing, and it’s good to have them associated with the IRL in a driving capacity.
Foyt was to meet with his new teammates later today in Daytona Beach, Fla., where he will co-drive a Daytona Prototype with Scheckter, Carpenter and George in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona later this month.
Does this mean Tony George is driving in the Rolex 24? If so, that’s really cool!
