At the 2008 Indy 500 Media Tour I had the opportunity to ask Major General Martin Umbarger, the Indiana Adjutant General, a question about the Army National Guard’s sponsorship of the Panther Racing car driven by Vitor Meira. Panther Racing has announced that the Army National Guard will join Delphi as a co-primary sponsor of the team’s #4 car driven by Vitor Meira for the 2008 IndyCar Series season. I think this is great news for a whole variety of reasons. read more »

Four teams filed a total of ten entries today for the 91st running of the Indianapolis 500. That brings the current total to 20 entries, comprising 17 drivers and 37 cars. The deadline for entries is midnight on April 4, 2007. read more »

Two-time IndyCar Series Champion Panther Racing will be auctioning a sizable amount of surplus equipment as they transition from a two-car team to a one-car team for the 2006 season. The auction is scheduled for February 5th, 6th, and 7th and will include cars, transporters, shop equipment, tools, office furniture, collectibles, and more. read more »

Last month Tomas Scheckter announced that he was raffling off the helmet he used during the 2004 IRL season to help his cousin Jaki get hearing implants. But today I noticed that the same helmet is up for auction on eBay. Not sure if that means that the raffle is canceled or what, but I supect he’ll raise more money for his cousin on eBay. The current bid is $1000. read more »
