Indiana Sprint Week has finally arrived amid all sorts of controversy, hopes, dreams, expectations, and mostly a good time to be had, especially by race fans. One of our human needs is something to forward to doing, seeing, or having. And Sprint Week, for open wheel race fans from all over, is one of those events that many folks mark on their calendars as soon as they get their hands on a calendar.   read more »

The Hoosier Race Report: The Great Escape

By Danny Burton

Another race weekend, Indiana’s biggest, is complete as this is written. Rain was the winner at some tracks and it also was a huge factor in our biggest race. But the rain stayed away from both Bloomington and Lawrenceburg as many of us had a glimpse of the future, Jeff Bland Jr. and the present, Jon Stanbrough. Young Bland won the Friday night feature at Bloomington while Stanbrough ran away with the 30 lap feature at the ‘burg as part of the King of Indiana Sprint Series.   read more »

The Hoosier Race Report: The Road Less Traveled

By Danny Burton

When someone takes the road not traveled by others, the risks can be greater, but so can the rewards. When taking the less popular path, one assumes the attitude that they will either reach that desired destination, or at least will have done their best. And when that someone is a young man perhaps the reward is even more so. Friday, May 5th, at the Lawrenceburg Speedway, that young man was Chris Windom and his road less traveled was the low groove on what most thought was a one groove track. He showed more patience than many trained professional drivers and stuck to his guns in winning the 25 lap sprint feature at the ‘burg.   read more »
