We FINALLY got a fantastic, sunny day for pole qualifying for the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 last Saturday. To make it even more special, it coincided with Throwback Day at the Speedway which allowed fans to pay reduced prices for admission and refreshments and enjoy added attractions. MODERATOR: Dan Wheldon, right on time. Obviously, a gentleman who had just an incredible year in 2005 winning the Indy 500, the IndyCar Series championship. As many of you know, he began this year with a new team, teamed with Scott Dixon to win the 24 Hours of Daytona. The team has been very quick. We haven’t had much practice time, but while Sam Hornish has been here as the fastest in practice a couple of times, this guy put up a pretty stout number himself in practice a couple days ago. read more »

There’s no such thing as a “hype meter” that could be used to measure the qualitative differences between the rookie years of Dan Wheldon and Danica Patrick. So I guess we’ll just have to rely on quantitative facts… boring perhaps, but interesting! read more »
