Noblesville, IN based driver (or rocket-ship commander?) Bryan Clauson has launched a new web site at BryanClauson.com and has announced that he will drive for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates in the No. 41 Busch Series Dodge with Memorex as the sponsor in the final seven races on the schedule. On a weekend when open wheel racing here held its annual salute to a couple of its long gone fraternity, we saw a young racer hold off two of the best in two different races at the Salem Speedway. The youngster is surely enjoying the present, and is riding the wave. But his potential future is nearly mind-boggling in the racing world. Whether it is to be in Indy cars or in NASCAR, Bryan Clauson is quite possibly going to be the next area racer to make his mark on racing at its national level. And by the way, we saw yet another first time winner on Friday night at Bloomington, namely Hunter Schuerenberg. read more »

Sometimes we need to have a sense of history, without obsessing over it all. This weekend many of us were happily reminded that all is not doom and gloom, be it world events or even short track racing in our fair state here in the nation’s breadbasket. We saw a future force in racing at its highest levels come back for a night to make yet another statement. We saw another who could have gone on to success at that same level but who did not; yet in my own opinion he is a success story in his own way. And we heard, albeit briefly, an interview with one of those who raced in days gone by, one who is never without a smile and a funny story. Bryan Clauson, Kevin Briscoe, and Butch Wilkerson are all Hoosier and racing treasures. The future, the present and the past were here to appreciate, all in one weekend. read more »

Indiana, I suppose, is a short track race fan’s dream. This past weekend a serious race fan could have seen four races in three days had (s)he the time and money. And quite a few of my friends did just that. Thanks to the weather and some of the best competition seen in these parts, short track fans in this area had to be quite satisfied, and tired, as of Sunday night. read more »

The youth movement is on a fast track in racing, and although most of the prospects are not old enough to vote, their résumés are chock full of experience. Teenager Bryan Clauson, who has been racing ten of his 16 years, is one of those hot prospects. The California native started out in quarter midgets before working his way into midgets and the more powerful sprint cars. And he has won often.
