Donald Davidson, Indianapolis Motor Speedway historian, and Rick Shaffer, longtime racing journalist, will discuss their new book, “Autocourse Official History of the Indianapolis 500,” from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (ET) Saturday, Feb. 10 at the State Library (History Reference Room, 2nd floor), 140 N. Senate Ave. in downtown Indianapolis.

A book signing will follow the presentation for attendees who have previously purchased the book and for those who purchase a copy on site for $59.95 plus tax. The public is encouraged to pre-register for the event and can do so by e-mailing Ron Rose at rrose [at] statelib.lib.in.us.

Last April, during his “Indy 500 History” class, Donald Davidson had mentioned that he was working on a book with Rick Shaffer but couldn’t say a lot more about it. When I saw the press release today I promptly jumped in my car, drove to the Speedway and bought it! And I’m glad I did!
