I used to want to develop everything myself, but now that tools like WordPress have matured and grown strong developer and user communities, it just doesn’t make sense anymore. Photo Hosting: Flickr
Flickr is almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world. Flickr photosets are presented on the site with the help of phpFlickr, a Flickr API wrapper developed by Dan Coulter.

Search Engine: Fluid Dynamics Search Engine
A very nicely done, stable, fast and reliable search engine I’ve used for years. Developed by Zoltan Milosevic.

Graphics: Silk Icons
I make all of my own graphics for the site, but one thing I’ve never really mastered are small icons. Mark James created a very nice set of icons that he graciously gives away for free. I also use the Share Icon created by Alex King in the “Share This” functionality on each post.

Javascript:
jQuery, a cool, lightweight javascript library.
Thickbox, a javascript user interface dialog widget based on jQuery. In other words, the thing that makes the photos on the site pop up when you click on them.
Snap Preview Anywhere, the gizmo that pops up the external site previews.
wz_tooltip, which provides the headline news popups.

Audio Tools: Wimpy Player
Not really “wimpy” at all, the Wimpy Player is a skinnable, Flash-based player for audio files created by Mike Gieson. I also use a slightly customized version of their Wimpy SQL application to manage and stream the mp3 files here at IndianaRacing.net.
