1999 Indianapolis 500 winner Kenny Brack and his band BRACK have released an outstanding tribute to 4-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt titled “Legend of the Speedway” in conjunction with the launch of their first album, “Greatest Hits Volume 1″. This is must-see, must-listen stuff, folks… it’s great!

The band has made a terrific music video available at their web site, BrackMusic.com, that features them singing “Legend of the Speedway” on the front stretch of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in front of five Indy 500-winning Foyt cars: the four A.J. drove himself, and the one owned by Foyt and driven by Kenny Brack in 1999. The video also features a great deal of historic footage intermixed with scenes played by driver Tyler Walker dressed as A.J.

Here’s a version of the video available on YouTube, but I would highly recommend viewing the much higher-quality version on the band’s web site.

The BRACK web site offers a number of interesting behind-the-scenes or making-of-the-video photos. One of the really cool things they did was use a small remote-controlled helicopter to get aerial shots for the video. If you watch carefully, you can see the helicopter’s shadow in a few of the overhead shots (Gee, I wonder if they would let me fly one of those things during the race?). Oh yeah, and there are also some good shots of the girls in bikinis in front of the “green screens”… that’s always a crowd pleaser!

BRACK also has a page available at MySpace under the username bracklive, because well, doesn’t everyone have a MySpace page? The band is also featured on NASCAR-star Kasey Kahne’s DVD titled “Dirt-N-Drift” (which also features the band “Saliva”, which is playing on May 11, Fast Friday… I’m starting to see some connections here).

• BRACK will be performing live at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Carb Day and Race Day.
• The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will play the single 6 times a day during May and will show the video on its 35 jumbotrons.
• BRACK will be featured in IndyCar Magazine.
• The video will be available on the front of IndyCar.com.
• There will be appearances on David Letterman May 3rd, Bob & Tom, Fox & Friends, ESPN, ABC etc.
• In addition, the video and single will be played at the remaining IndyCar Series events throughout the 2007 season.

Congrats to Kenny and the rest of BRACK. “Legend of the Speedway” is a great song, and the video is terrific. Together they make a great, fun, modern-day tribute to one of the greatest race drivers of all time.
