Bobby East is pushed out of pit lane to start the Premier Racing Association Banjo 100 at O’Reilly Raceway Park on September 14, 2007. East went on to dominate the event and take home the victory in what would be the final race run by the PRA.
I really like the motion in this photo. The teams were all pushing their cars out, the sun was almost down, the lights had come on, and everyone was getting excited for 100 laps of “big car” racing.
I was actually quite close to the cars as they zoomed by. This shot was taken with a wide angle lens at 18mm which makes it appear to be a little farther away. I really like to use only available light whenever possible, so the shutter speed was just 1/20 of a second. I was fortunate to pan the camera at just the right speed to keep the car in focus while still capturing some of the motion.
