Gallery: MotoGP Road Course Construction Update 2

I had the pleasure of taking my family to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum last Saturday, August 11. As we rode the tour bus around the track at speeds just slightly under Helio Castroneves’ 2007 Indy 500 pole-winning speed of 225.817 mph, I managed to snap a few photos of the road course construction project currently underway.

The first four photos are of the area on the inside of the oval’s turn two, which will be turns five and six on the new road course. All of the other photos are of the area on the inside of the oval’s turn one, which will be turns one through four on the new road course.

As you’ll see, the First Turn Terrace grandstand is now gone, disassembled and piled in the parking lot. The wall on the inside of turn two has been demolished as well. One thing I noted while on the tour bus was that the recording has already been updated to refer to the new direction of the road course (which of course is opposite of the direction cars traveled for the US Grand Prix).
