Pit Road Terrace Location

Pit Road Terrace is located on the inner west side of the track along the south end of the front straight and offers excellent views of Pit Road. Pit Road Terrace is bordered on the north by the Pagoda and on the south by an access road and the grassy turn one viewing mound. The Pit Road Terrace bleachers are removed for the US Grand Prix.

According to a 2004 count conducted by Indianapolis Star reporter Curt Cavin, Pit Road Terrace has 5,544 seats.

Pit Road Terrace sections start at section 41 on the north side next to the Pagoda, break at section 28 on the north side of Gasoline Alley, start again at section 27 on the south side of Gasoline Alley and run through section 1 on the south side next to the turn one viewing mound. Each section has 8 rows, A-H.

Pit Road Terrace Aerial Photo

Note that the aerial photo shows Pit Road Terrace in its Brickyard 400 configuration. For the 400, cars enter the garage area via Gasoline Alley and exit underneath the Pit Road Suites and past the southernmost set of bleachers in the photo. For the Indianapolis 500, there are no seats located directly in front of the Pagoda, and the bleachers extend all the way to the south end of the Pit Road Suites.

For the bleacher seats in front of the pit suites, I would recommend wearing ear plugs or other hearing protection. The sound from the cars is reflected back at you from the large suite windows behind you, making it painfully loud with several cars going by at once.
Above the suites, the view of the track from the first row of seats is partially blocked by a handrail.
