Northeast Vista
View a different seating location
Northeast Vista is located on the outer northeast side of the track along the north end of the backstretch and through most of turn three. Northeast Vista is bordered on the west by North Vista and on the south by only grass and a golf course.
According to a 2004 count conducted by Indianapolis Star reporter Curt Cavin, Northeast Vista is the largest grandstand and has 38,940 seats.
Northeast Vista sections start at section 50 on the backstretch next to the golf course and continue through section 1 which is just past the apex of turn three. Each section has 40 rows (A through RR?) except section 49 with 16 rows and section 50 with 11 rows. Northeast Vista also has a two-row upper deck, rows A and B.
Note that on the 2005 Indianapolis 500 order form, sections 1-25 are listed as “Turn Seating” and sections 26-50 are listed as “Backstretch Seating”. Turn Seating is $5 more per ticket than Backstretch Seating. There is no differential made for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, and Northeast Vista is not available for the USGP.

the northeast vista seats are some of the best value seats at the track in my opinion. just be sure you get from the middle to the end of turn three to get the most benefit…………
if you are too close to the backstretch you can’t see the action completely through turn three, the short chute, and into turn four………..
i saw the famous “pass under yellow” there; and again in my opinion, paul passed helio UNDER THE YELLOW. we saw the accident in turn two, before the pass in turn three………..
watching the cars in action down the backstretch is the best……darting in and out, four, five wide; then suddenly they all get in line for the turn………..very exciting and one of two of the fastest places on the track…………
i also like turn three the best because of it’s closeness to the north 40 and the coke lot……….
easy in and easy out. you like to party?? you are close to some of the best parties at INDY.
these are just my opinions, i am sure others would disagree……….
have fun, be safe, race on

I’ve had seats at Row QQ, Section 6 and Row BB, Section 11 of the NE Vista Turn the past two years. The section 6, QQ seats were phenomenal–a row from the top and breathtaking, really–with a sweeping view of the cars exiting turn 2, racing 3 and 4 wide down the entire backstretch, making passes into turn 3, through the shortchute and all the way through turn 4. There is a jumbo TV screen directly across the turn so you can keep track of the action at the south end of the track and in the pits. Parking is no problem–easy in, easy out from the north lot or from across 30th street.
Be prepared though–it can get cold and windy way up there, especially if there’s a passing rain shower. And there is ONE problem with being so high–we were the last ones down during the tornado warning.
Section 11 is right next to a fence, which divides sections 10 and 11, and as I was right next to it, I didn’t care for these seats as much. Not bad, just not great.
Bottom line–turn 3 is a superb place to watch passing, access is easy, and the price is more than reasonable.

No question that the Northeast Vista provides the most track coverage of any grandstand in the speedway. I have tickets on the top row (RR) in sec 5. I consider them to be just slightly too far into the turn for my taste although it allows a better veiw of 4. I also have Sec 13 which is right at the apex and perfect. Finally I have tickets in sec 20 just ahead of the apex. So in my opinion, try for sec 13 or close but if you have to choose away from the apex go lower sections not higher. Double letters are a must. Top rows need to dress for about 10 degrees cooler than what is expected.

I’ve had seats in NE Vista section 12 row P for the last 11 yrs. and these seats are awesome. Don’t let the fact that it’s not “Double letter” fool you. We can easily see the cars from the middle of #2 through the exit of turn #4. If you sit TOO LOW in section 12 you lose the south end of the back stretch. I think the way to go is to stay between sections 11 and 19 and sit as high as possible within reason. Once you get to section 20 you start to lose the view in the fence as you look south. If I were ordering last minute from the track I’m guessing that section 17 to 19 would be good even with a very low row just because the ANGLE would be good for the view down the backstretch.

SFC Evans- Those are pretty good seats, especially if they were still available this late. The section is good, not too far out of the turn, and row EE is very good. I’m sure you’ll have a great time!

I will be attending the Allstate 400 in July..just wondering which seats are better SW Vista or NE Vista? Also does anyone know what part of town would be safe to stay in? I am from Michigan and have no clue where to stay. Made mistakes in choosing locations for other Nascar races and would like to be able to relax and have fun this time. Thanks for everyone’s help

You will see FAR MORE of the track from NE Vista than you will from SW Vista. Call the Speedway at1-800-822-INDY and ask for NE VISTA section 12 or 13 as high as possible and you’ll be set. A week ago you could still get row X which is more than high enough. FOR THE MOST PART north is better than south for locations to stay. Plan on parking somewhere north of gate #10 on 3oth street and walk into the track.

im looking to buy tix in the NE vista for the 500. does anyone know the section numbers and does the lower section number begin counter clockwise same as the drivers direction?
#10 - Paul Woods (May 11th, 2009 at 9:25 am)
If you read the text at the top of the page and look at the satellite photo you will find the answer to your question. The section numbers are the opposite of what you suggested… going counter-clockwise, they run from section 50 along the backstretch to section 1 next to North Vista on the north end of the track. The blue nubers on the satellite photo indicate the sections… they are not all listed but with a little effort you can figure them out.

I have tickets for Section 20, Row A, are these going to be any good for the Brickyard. Any response would be greatly appreciated!
