North Vista Location

North Vista is located on the outer north side of the track along the short chute between turns three and four. A small portion actually extends toward the apex of turn three. North Vista is bordered on the east by Northeast Vista, and on the west by Northwest Vista.

North Vista sections start at section 68 on the east side next to Northeast Vista and run through section 21 on the west side next to Northwest Vista. Tunnel 10 runs below sections 40-42.

The first row is row A for all North Vista sections. Top rows vary as follows:

  • Sections 21-56, top row is QQ.
  • Sections 57-58, top row is FF.
  • Section 59, exact top row is unknown (between M and FF).
  • Sections 60-68, top row is M.

(Section 48 Row B) This section is in the middle of the North Vista, just east of the tunnel. There is a big screen Video monitor just opposite the seats. You can see the cars coming out of turn 3 through the short chute and around turn 4. Concession stands and bathrooms are a short distance away. Easy access from the North (30th Street). I usually park in the developement just north of 30th Street. Easy access in and easy access out. Row B is the first row in the stands. Most people think it is too low. However if you are bringing kids or are short they are great. No one blocks your view. The safety guards chase people away that stand in front of the seats.

We traded for seats in the North Vista one year, and ended up in the wheelchair row (Row A), which was actually on the front of the walkway, in front of and below the first row of actual seats. I would challenge anyone to find a seat that is closer to the actual racing surface - WOW. I wouldn’t want to sit there every year, but it was amazing to be that close, literally only 5-6 feet from the concrete wall, in the middle of the turn.

i’ve got tickets in the north vista row 22 section BB seats 1&2…does anyone know how good these seats are?

Tiffany- I’d say those are good seats. Are there better seats? Yes. Are there worse seats? Absolutely. You’ll be at the entrance to turn four, so you should be able to see all of turn three, turn four, and down the front stretch. Not bad at all! Don’t worry about the seats… just have fun at the race!

Just moved my seats to the North Vista, Section 25, rows HH and JJ. Will send my pics after the race this year. Previously, we sat in section 41, directly across from the video board and above the tunnel. We decided to move more into turn four, so that we can see the cars leaving turn 4 and heading into the straight. The tradeoff here, is that we won’t be able to see the video monitor as well. But if you’re going to watch the video monitors all day, you might as well watch from your couch! Can’t wait ’till May!

Hey, I was wondering if these are good seats for me and my 10 y/o. North Vista Sec 36 Row G? For both of us it is our first time to the IMS. Are there any suggestions on things we should/shouldn’t do to make this a memorable, safe, and fun experience? Thanks, Thurat

Thurat- Some would say that those seats are a bit low, but I think they will be okay especially for first-timers. You should have a great view of turn 4 and a pretty good view of turn 3, but you probably will not be able to see the cars when they are up close to the wall between 3 and 4… not really that big a deal.

As far as advice… be prepared for a very long hot day. Bring sunscreen and/or hats, sunglasses, etc. Bring hearing protection of some kind. Bring a cooler of drinks or be willing to go buy drinks during the race. Most importantly, bring patience and a good attitude… that makes all the difference in the world! You will have a great time and a lot of fun, even if it’s a bit overwhelming… there’s nothing else like it!

This will be my first time at IMS. We have seats in North vista sec 31 row GG. How are these seats? I’ve heard you can’t see the whole track? Slightly disappointing but what should we expect?

#9  -  Paul Woods    (July 27th, 2011 at 9:11 am)

Bigeza2000- I think you’ll be happy with those seats. IMS is a very big place, and there are no seats that allow you to see the entire track. You should be able to see the cars beginning with the end of the backstretch, in turn 3, all the way through 4 and partway down the front stretch. That’s not bad at all. There should be two jumbo TVs you can see to follow the other action. Have fun!

I have seats in North Vista S 34 row NN seats 7 and 8, Do you think this will be good seating?

#11  -  Paul Woods    (July 28th, 2011 at 8:24 am)

Tiffany- Yes, those will be good seats. The key to getting good seats in the North Vista is to be up high. Generally speaking, double-letter rows are best… NN is the fourth row from the very top. Enjoy the race!

Got tickets today! North Vista Section 31, Row W, are these good seats? Can’t wait, I’ve always wanted to go. This is the first time I’ve ever even been to the track. My Dad was a friend of old A.J.’s in years past. I’m finally getting to go Dad RIP.
