25+ years of Indy and this’ll be our first year sitting in the middle of the straightaway. We usually opt for the N NW E & SW Vista’s. We have for every year scalped to get our tix. This year we couldn’t pass on the $50 buckaroos for the two $90 face value tix(parkng pass too!). I’m kinda excited to watch the race day pit action and festivities from here. I’ll take some Ben-Gay for the neck ache(read previous post). My wifes happier that I am slowing down these days and my beer consumption at the race has decreased some. I think she likes that we’ll be sitting with a more “refined” crowd.

Go Danica!

I sit here during practice when I need shade. That’s about all it is good for. That and pit action, but only for the bad teams as you’re across from the entrance to the pits. You can’t see either corner well.

For several years we have had seats in the north end of section C. I really like them. I’m very, very fair skinned (pale), and burn badly and quickly in the sun. The seats beyond row E are in the shade by the green flag, and stay that way all afternoon. You are under cover in times of rain, and these seats are usually not sold out so you can spread out a bit. The seats at the north end (sections 15 -18) have a good view if you know how to do it– see the cars come out of turn four, down the front straight, cross the start/finish line and lose them just as they get to turn 1, then look at the jumbo TV screen across the track just north of tower terrace, which follows the pertinent cars back around. You see most of the important action using this method.

For me, I’ll take these seats any day over some high bleacher seat out in the exposed northern vistas, where I can see a greater percentage of the track, but have no idea what’s going on for the parts I can’t see, while packed in, shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of hot, sweaty, smelly folks who aren’t as good at drinking as I am.

I sat in C stand last year in row AA and it was incredible. Now I drink a lot at the race and row AA give the drinker or non drinker an extra plus. Not only could I see the middle if 3 and 4 all the way down the strightaway and into 4 (and pit row), for NASCAR C stand is where the go full throttle for the starts and restats. You get the shade, a back to the seat and row AA is the only row where there is also a bar in front of you that you can lean on. Because of that bar I requested to get that row again.
