Chad Reed won the final AMA Supercross event at the RCA Dome on a course he designed himself. In fact, it was the final live spectator event to be held at the RCA Dome ever. The dome will be demolished to make way for the expansion of the Indiana Convention Center, and future events will be held in Lucas Oil Stadium which is nearing completion and will open in time for the first Indianapolis Colts game in August 2008. read more »

There’s been a lot of conjecture in the past week or so about the possibility of an open wheel merger or at least the possibility of one or more race teams moving to the IndyCar Series. I typically like to keep my distance from all of the hullabaloo when it comes around each year. But look at the race team in the photo above. Man, they look happy, don’t they? This photo was taken as Sam sped away on the back of a golf cart, shortly after winning the 2006 Indy 500 and finishing with the media. Somehow it seemed apropos for the news. There are a lot of different viewpoints on this whole deal and they’re all just a few clicks away on a countless number of internet message boards. But I guess all I have to say is “Good luck Sam… thanks for the memories, and maybe we’ll see you at the Brickyard in July!” read more »
