About IndianaRacing.net

Click to see my “secret”! :-)

Hi, my name is Paul Woods, and I’m a race fan.

I created IndianaRacing.net to celebrate and promote the enjoyment of motorsports in Indiana.

There are a lot of different reasons that people enjoy racing. Some like the raw speed. Some appreciate the mechanical innovation. Some are thrilled by the danger and excitement. Some actually like the politics and bickering. Some just like to hoot and holler and drink beer with thousands of other people that like to hoot and holler and drink beer. And I like all of those things too, to a certain degree.

But what I like most are the events themselves, and the atmosphere that surrounds them. The sights, the sounds, the tastes, the smells, and especially the “feel” of being there. I’m fascinated by the fact that generations of race fans have enjoyed the same experiences at the same racetracks we all visit today, and at how racing is such an important part of Indiana’s history and culture.

For reasons I don’t fully understand, I feel compelled to somehow capture and share some of these experiences with others. To help people re-live the moments if they were there, enjoy them for the first time if they were not, and perhaps encourage them to participate in the future if the possibility had never occured to them.

That’s my mission, plain and simple. That and “keep it fun”. Share things when I have time, and hope that people enjoy them. I hope that you’ll share things too. Comments, questions, personal stories, photos, or what have you, are all welcome. Send them my way and I’ll be happy to post them to the site.

Hello Paul,

Nice website you have. I found it by accident and I will be back. I am originally from Brownsburg but now I am just trying to survive out here in Oxnard, California. Found your site trying to find more info on Pat Flaherty. I found his grave in the cemetery by accident and became intrigued with who he was other than the 1956 winner of the 500.I of course am a race fanatic, and as weird as it is my two sisters actually work at IMS during the race period.

Paul,

Love what you’re doing here. BTW, if you or your readers are interested, I have a free daily OPEN WHEEL report I send out to my 180+ readers entitled “Thru Noggle’s Goggles” that gives everyone an update of IndyCar, F-1, all the divisions of USAC, WoO, All Stars, POWRi midgets, etc….as I said, anything that’s open wheel racing. Just send me a note and I’ll include you as a reader until you say otherwise. No advertisements will follow to your address as this is a labor of love only. If you don’t want to receive the e-mails personally, check me out on Charlie Brown’s RaceFanRadio.com and my reports are included there daily.

Thanks,
Jon Noggle
