Mark Bennett of the Terre Haute Tribune-Star is reporting that filmmakers planning a movie about the first Indy 500 are considering filming in Terre Haute. The Terre Haute Action Track would be used to recreate scenes that originally took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Too bad they didn’t make plans earlier… they could have been filming throughout all of 2007!

Today is Alex Zanardi’s birthday. It’s also mine. There have been several well-known people born on October 23, such as Pele, Johnny Carson, and (ha) Weird Al Yankovic to name a few. But I’ve always felt a tiny connection with Alex because we were literally born on the very same day (same year). I also had the thrill of being seated at the bottom of Laguna Seca’s corkscrew to see Alex complete “The Pass” live and in person. read more »

No matter how hard one may try and keep up with all the short track hot shoes, there will always be some who’ll slip through the cracks. Granted, I pay more attention to up and coming open wheel racers, but I can say that I’m quite aware of a few of our fendered brethren too. And after Sunday’s 36th Winchester 400 at the venerable Winchester Speedway’s high banks, now I’m quite aware of a young man named Ryan Lawler. Perhaps you should be as well; maybe this young man may move on to other racing series. read more »
