As yet another racing season in the Midwest slowly reaches its end, so do other matters, or even careers. Kevin Briscoe has had a racing career that is one we all could admire, but one should remember that first and foremost, he doesn’t race for a living. Instead he races for the love and joy of it all. He is also a businessman and a family man as well. So as he gets a year older maybe he feels the need to consider what the next move should be.   read more »

Whether or not we realize or care, we all have lines in our lives. These lines are seen or unseen. They can be real or imagined. They can be lines we draw ourselves or have our society or culture draw them instead. Sometimes we foolishly cross those lines and pay a serious price. But no matter what these lines are or what they mean, we’d be best advised to be aware of them. For Jon Stanbrough on Friday night at the Gas City/I-69 Speedway, lines were important. Though it may not have been totally visible, Jon’s line was real. It happened to be the one he used to run off with the sprint feature after starting 11th. And in the process he made yet another fan in my grandson. But that’s another story.   read more »

The legendary Jungle Park Speedway, located on US 41 in Marshall, IN just north of Rockville, is a special place indeed. Running off and on from 1926 until 1960, the track was the scene of some exciting racing and good times, but also of some savage accidents. For the last several years, race fans have gathered at Jungle Park on the last weekend in September to learn about the track and its history, share stories, buy and sell memorabilia and car parts, see vintage cars, and just generally have a good time.
