Just as the 2006 version of Indiana Sprint Week left a bad memory, the 2007 edition, the 20th, should be a good memory for the overwhelming majority of all involved in varying degrees. New track records, both in time trials and crowd counts, have been set. New faces along with the familiar ones have appeared or reappeared. And the beat goes on as potential issues such as rain, higher prices for most everything, especially gas, failed to deter fans and teams. read more »

Real cowboys and real sheriffs might chuckle at the notion that race car drivers could have nicknames such as “The Modern Day Cowboy” or the “Sheriff.” But Daron Clayton and Jon Stanbrough, nonetheless, have received those names from announcers, writers, and/or fans, with Stanbrough’s title often preceded by the word “real.” And dirt late model racer John Gill was called “The Modern Day Cowboy” when Mr. Clayton was in diapers. read more »

One of our human needs is something to forward to doing, seeing, or having. Photos taken at the official announcement of the Red Bull Indianapolis GP, July 16, 2007. Over 200 motorcycle riders filled the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Pagoda Plaza to create a festival-like atmosphere and the announcement was made in an impressively decorated room in the Pagoda Plaza Pavilion. A dark room, bright silver stage and colorful lighting made photos a challenge, but it certainly helped convey the excitement of bringing MotoGP to the Speedway. read more »
