How often have you read the box score of a race and noticed that the leader started on the pole and led the whole race? Quite possibly you assumed that the race in question was a snoozefest. Quite possibly you might be wrong. Friday night, June 8, Cole Whitt did just that at the Bloomington Speedway. He started on the pole and led flag to flag to win $1700 (extra money thanks to Safety-Kleen) worth of satisfaction. But what the box score didn’t show was that this was a fine race, with lots of passing going on behind the young Mr. Whitt and, had the race lasted a bit longer than 25 laps, a seasoned veteran might have counting the big money. read more »

Another race weekend, Indiana’s biggest, is complete as this is written. Rain was the winner at some tracks and it also was a huge factor in our biggest race. But the rain stayed away from both Bloomington and Lawrenceburg as many of us had a glimpse of the future, Jeff Bland Jr. and the present, Jon Stanbrough. Young Bland won the Friday night feature at Bloomington while Stanbrough ran away with the 30 lap feature at the ‘burg as part of the King of Indiana Sprint Series. read more »

You can forgive Brady Short if he has the feeling that the lightning fast Twin Cities Raceway Park owes him one. Ten days earlier he had been leading the feature in the KISS event at Twin Cities when Jon Stanbrough inadvertently turned him around, ending his chances for a win while leading. So on Tuesday, May 22, if revenge was what the kid from Bedford, IN wanted, revenge was what he achieved. read more »
