While my friends headed off to their favorite bull ring, off I went to the high banks of Salem for some winged sprints. Yes, pavement and wings on a Saturday night. And for Kevin Feeney it was a good trip as well. He took the lead early in the Auto Value Super Sprint’s 30 lap feature and won easily. Well, Kevin made his trifecta (also setting fast time and winning his heat) look easy. read more »

Carl Edwards seems like a fine young man, one you’d not mind hanging around with, and certainly one you could trust with your race car to boot. We went to a different church this morning (Lutheran) and the minister spoke of hope and how crucial it is to have it in our lives. So I didn’t exactly doze off; instead I thought of Josh Cunningham, who posted his first sprint car victory at the Bloomington Speedway on Friday night, after many years of trying. And I thought of Jon Stanbrough, who has re-assumed his well-earned description as maybe the best of Hoosier short-track open wheelers. All Jon did was win going away at Terre Haute on Saturday night in King of Indiana Sprint Series action, and also take the 2006 KISS points championship, too. read more »
