A new indianapolis-based internet radio station has been announced called RaceFanRadio.com. President and CEO of RaceFanRadio.com Charlie Brown says that the station will present the best in Music and Motorsports coverage plus give fans a chance to interact with their favorite racing personalities.   read more »

Recordings: 2006 Indianapolis 500

A collection of 20 audio clips from the 90th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indianapolis 500. With one of the most dramatic Indy 500 finishes of all time, this edition of the race would be dubbed an “instant classic” and will surely be remembered and recounted by race fans for decades to come. Recordings: 2006 Indy 500 Pole Day 3

The rain that had washed out the entire first weekend of qualifying finally cleared and set up a gorgeous day and an exciting run for the 2006 MBNA Pole Award on May 20, 2006. This sound gallery includes 13 recordings made that day, including the full qualification run of pole winner Sam Hornish Jr and several of his closest competitors. Portions of a few post-qualification interviews can be heard, along with the wonderful booming voice of Tom Carnegie calling the action.   read more »

There are just two recordings here, the first being Marco Andretti’s first official lap at the Speedway during Rookie Orientation (which I like just for historical reasons), and the second the first lap of the second practice session on Pole Day (1) which was ultimately cut short due to rain.   read more »
