Just a quick note to point out that apparently there will be a Indy 500 Fan Tour Kickoff Party at Fastimes Indoor Karting on Friday February 24th from 4-8:00pm. I say apparently because it doesn’t seem to have been promoted very well and a lot of people are just now finding out about it. Details are available here:
Donald Davidson’s excellent Indy 500 History class is again being offered through IUPUI’s Continuing Learning department. The class will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays from 7-9pm beginning April 4th and ending April 25th. All classes will be held at the Brickyard Crossing Inn, outside turn 2 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. read more »
Got a chance to visit the new official Danica Patrick web site recently… WOW! As a general rule I don’t like Macromedia Flash-based sites with background music, “broadband required” messages and all that whiz-bang web junk, but this site is very well done. read more »

This story started long ago, but the other night is what caused me to think about it. My friend Carl’s dad passed away and we went to the viewing. Carl’s dad and family are some of the best people here in this town and the long line at the funeral home was strong evidence. We slowly made our way to where the family waited to greet friends. We stood behind a gentleman about my age, maybe a bit younger. Each of us said hello to various folks there whom we knew. I looked at my watch and guessed that we’d be in line for an hour or more.
