Notebook: Indiana Boy Does Good: Tony Stewart Wins Second NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship

What a year it’s been for Tony Stewart. First he fulfills a life-long dream by winning at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, then he clinches his second NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship, one of only 14 drivers to have won it more than once. Why, it would even be correct to say that Stewart has won 50% of the championships in the last four years! (don’t you just love statistics?)   read more »

Notebook: Happy Anniversary to the Hulman-George Family, and Thanks!

In case you haven’t already heard, today marks the 60th anniversary of the day that Tony Hulman purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from Eddie Rickenbacker in 1945. If you’ve ever seen photos or videos of the track taken from that year, I think you’ll agree that it’s truly amazing what the Hulman-George family has done and how the track has prospered under their stewardship.   read more »
