John S. Zink Jr., also known as “Jack”, passed away on Saturday, February 5th, 2005 at a Tulsa, OK hospital. Zink had at least one car in the Indianapolis 500 every year between 1952 and 1967, winning the race in 1955 with Bob Sweikert at the wheel and again in 1956 with Pat Flaherty. He was inducted into the Auto Racing Hall of Fame in May 2004 in Indianapolis.   read more »

Donald Davidson’s excellent Indy 500 History class is again being offered through IUPUI’s Continuing Learning department. The class will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays from 7-9pm beginning April 5th and ending April 26th. All classes will be held at the Brickyard Crossing Inn, outside turn 2 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.   read more »
